Behind The Bapistry Door by Linda Weil

Features

ARTIST NOTES: Behind the beautiful Lorenzo Ghiberti doors of The Bapistry in Florence, is an alcove with a humble, plain oak door leading to who knows where. This door is locked closed by a beautifully hand-crafted iron bolt. I like to think that the smith who made this piece of ironwork took as much pride in his work as Ghiberti.

Artist Statement: ‘Drawing, for me, is a constant joy and passion – I love to draw. A simple line can express so much. When I draw, I get engrossed in detail and subject matter. I love allowing a drawing to break out of its’ boundaries and create drawings within drawings – big concepts within small areas – encouraging the viewer see past the obvious and notice the hidden thought.
