ARTIST BIO

Joan Mullarveyis an established artist who lives in North Eastern Victoria, her formal studies saw her complete her Advanced Diploma of Visual Art majoring in printmaking and painting.  Joan continues to update her skills by attending intensive workshops with highly recognised artists across both disciplines.

Joan has been the recipient of many awards and commendations, most recently Finalist, Inkmasters Printl Exhibition 2021, The Tanks Art Centre, Cairns, and her work is held in private collections both domestically and internationally.

Joan’s work at times crosses the border between painting and printmaking, creating bold and distinctive images.  Inspiration comes primarily from her local environment, visually describing the raw tactile beauty of rural and inland areas.  At times, within her work are elements of Neolithic art which enables her to draw on overlapping beliefs and cultural ideas, revealing the similarities and shared fascinations inherent to all.  By exploring themes of connectiveness and expressing this in a symbolic way enables her art to have different meanings to different people.  Joan encourages the viewer to look beyond the image into the essence of her work, which continues to evolve and challenge her through experimentation across all areas of printmaking.

All Joan's prints are original hand pulled prints, not reproductions.
