Leigh Rowles
Dip ABS, Grad Dip Ed - Visual & Performing Arts,
VGCEBI
As a Senior Soloist with The Australian Ballet, Leigh toured internationally and throughout Australia, enjoying the privilege of working with the world's best choreographers, artists, designer and directors.
After eight years with the ballet, other professional interests beckoned, and Leigh directed her talents to embrace other art forms. She appeared opposite John Waters in the stage play Dracula, and performed in many stage musicals. During this period her choreographic credits included The Wizard of Oz, They're Playing Our Song and Piaf, operas Don Giovanni and Faust, and television productions Blue Heelers and Hey Hey It's Saturday.
Accepting invitations to become Director of the National Theatre Ballet School, then Resident Choreographer at The Australian Ballet School, Leigh's creativity continued to flourish, resulting in an eclectic range of her works being performed in Paris, Tokyo, Toronto, Beijing, Guangzhou and throughout Australia.
Leigh's innate passion for visual creativity found it's true home when she retired from the world of dance and found herself in a position to fulfil a long-held desire to express this passion, artistry and creative drive via the canvas.
